Atma Namaste,
Happy New Year! I hope you’ve had a relaxing and revitalising festive season and that the post-holiday blues last no longer than the first morning’s breakfast.
2012 is going to be a big year, for a multitude of reasons. There’s a great deal of conjecture about what might happen as December approaches (some of it verging on exploitative fear-mongering, some a degree more measured), but the lack of common accord can be a little confusing. So we trust, we meditate, we cleanse, we bless the planet and we expect the best. In short, we do as we should always do.
In February, The Ashish Institute for Inner Studies will host Prof. Arcady Petrov on a rare visit outside of Russia. Prof. Petrov is at the forefront of non-invasive cell regeneration therapies and his revolutionary work is creating a great deal of excitement in the global scientific community.
For this first newsletter of the new year, we’re prouder than a show-poodle to show you photos of the finished Pranic Lore Wellness Clinic & Treatment Centre. We’re also recommending a practical guide to joy, featuring a famous and frequently quoted ‘poem’ and basking in Sundew for a little inner-glow.
Love & light,
Kerrie-Ann

And so it's done: The Pranic Lore Wellness Clinic & Teaching Centre. And if we say so ourselves, it looks just so lovely. We couldn't be more thrilled about having such a beautiful space to heal and educate in.
Thank you dearly to those who have offered so much support during construction, especially to my mother Mary for absolutely everything, my son Callum for his patience and understanding and our puppy Bello for welcoming everyone through the door and doing his best to have them stay!
A special thank you also to Jess Baker and Michael Pisa for their creativity with photos of both the clinic and flameless candles (selling like environmentally-friendly hotcakes!).
We're so looking forward to everyone coming to see the finished product soon, and can't wait for the spiritual adventures to begin in this tranquil and welcoming retreat.

Sundew The essence of this flower is a great remedy to counter the lacklustre feelings that can accompany this time of year: vagueness, indecisiveness, lack of focus, tendency to daydream. Sundew keeps us focused and anchored in the present moment, which is perfect for those of us still thinking about the beach holidays we’ve left behind. source: ausflowers.com.au

These lines are actually from a piece of prose (entitled Devotions upon Emergent Occasions), which makes the enjambments above almost completely arbitrary. Nonetheless, many people are familiar with this ‘form’ and an even greater number with the phrases therein, so for the purposes of this section (and because I think it’s lovely), we’ll let all that go.
Donne wrote this piece in 1624 while recovering from a serious illness and it’s pretty clear from these words that this process involved a coming to terms with his own mortality. ‘...never send to know for whom the bell tolls’ relates to the old English custom of notifying townspeople of a death by ringing church bells. Depending on your mood, you could choose to read this as a fatalistic sermon or as a moment of reflective awe.
I prefer the latter, particularly given the preceding thoughts illustrating our interconnectivity. Essentially, what happens to one of us, happens to all of us – directly or indirectly we are ‘involved in mankind’ and thus share a common fate: the state of the world, death and beyond death.

Be happy - Robert Holden Robert Holden is the director of The Happiness Project and a guy you’d love to have around for a cup of tea. In a voice that has all the hallmarks of a great teacher (digestible, intelligent, instructive, engaging, self-deprecating, compassionate etc.), Holden outlines the exercises and theories that constitute the syllabus for his world-renowned Happiness Course.
I recently lent this book to a friend, whose first response when I asked her how she was finding it was: ‘I’d trust this guy with my life.’ I'd probably still want a cup of tea first, but I knew exactly what she meant.
